Pursuing Public-Private Cooperation in Net Zero through Green Building
Building Green 2023, the annual green building conference of the Philippine Green Building Council (PHILGBC) is happening on the 28th of September 2023 at the Modala Resort, Bohol, Philippines.
The Building Green Conference is an annual nationwide building industry education campaign on green building and sustainable practices. In the upcoming 17th edition of the conference, the PHILGBC will bring together green building innovators, showcase products and technologies, and emphasize the work of businesses that have adapted and advanced sustainability. Local and international leaders from the public and private sectors will convene to discuss their initiatives to promote energy efficiency, green building, net zero, and sustainable finance.
“Pursuing Public-Private Cooperation in Net Zero through Green Building" is the theme of this year's Building Green Conference. There will be four (4) Plenary Sessions: Local Actions on Green Building; National Programs on Sustainability; Regional Perspective on Public and Private Cooperation to Advance Green Building; and, the Latest Green Building Innovations, Strategies, and Solutions (IS2).
The Council Draft for BERDE version 5.0.0 will also be presented in the conference. This is part of the consensus building process for the further development of the BERDE program, to incorporate regulatory updates, standards, and learnings from industry and green building projects.
Building Green 2023 will be capped by a dinner and awarding ceremonies where participants will have the opportunity to interact and network, as well as witness as the Philippine Green Building Council recognizes individuals and organizations for their support and contribution for the advancement of sustainability and green building in the country.
Building Green 2023 is happening back-to-back with the Meeting of Leaders from the WorldGBC-APN happening on September 26-27, 2023, and the BERDE Professionals Basic Training Course from September 26-27, 2023.

The session examines the Philippines’ national programs on sustainability in a broader context. Respected representatives of government bodies, regulatory agencies, and other key stakeholders who have been instrumental in promoting sustainable practices on a national scale are presenting.
These influential leaders will discuss the strategies, policies, and initiatives implemented to advance sustainable construction practices nationwide. By showcasing national sustainability programs, they will demonstrate how a cohesive and collaborative approach can expedite the achievement of net-zero goals and the creation of a greener future.

The session gathers of green building leaders from the Asia Pacific Network of the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC-APN). The session highlights initiatives and programs and outlines best practices for engaging governments in meaningful partnerships. It will be discussed how WorldGBC-APN has shaped global green building markets and propelled green building regionally over the years.
We will outline and address a comprehensive understanding of the challenges, opportunities, and innovative solutions that arise when the public and private sectors collaborate. The intricate dynamics underlying successful cooperation will be uncovered, highlighting the importance of shared vision, aligned goals, and mutually beneficial outcomes

This session will provide a presentation of the council draft of BERDE – Buildings – version 5.0.0. as part of the continuing development of the BERDE program. Improvements on BERDE based on regulatory updates and learnings from projects and industry will be presented to the plenary and will be open for commenting.
Updates on other PHILGBC certification programs (Advancing Net Zero Philippines, and the PHILGBC Health and Well-being for Buildings) will be shared in this session.
